Plants require elements obtained from the soil, water or air for growth and healthy development. These nutrient elements are classified into two and they include: macro nutrients and micro nutrients. Macro nutrients are mineral elements or nutrients required by crops in large quantities. Examples are: carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium and sulphur. Micronutrients or trace elements are mineral elements or nutrients required by crops in small quantities. Examples are: zinc, copper, boron, molybdenum, Iron, chlorine and manganese.
