Transmission of Linear Motion i. Slots: A slot is a whole with different shapes such as triangular, circular, rectangular or square. A slot usually has a corresponding shaped object that can be moved in and out of the slot. For example, a rod can be moved in and out of a cylindrical pipe. Again, a drawer in a cabinet follows a straight-line path because it is guided by the cabinet slot.
