Summary of Soldering and Brazing
Soldering is a process of joining two or more metal surfaces together using a filler metal called solder (flexible lead wire), which is melted and allowed to flow into the joint between the items.
There are two types of soldering, soft soldering and hard soldering. Hard soldering is further classified into silver soldering and brazing.
Tools required for soldering include: soldering bit, soldering iron, solder, heat source, and flux.
Brazing is a process of joining two or more metals together using a solder called spelter. Brazing is a type of hard soldering, that ranges from 450o C and 550o C.
Tools required for brazing include heat source, filler metal and flux.
Procedures for brazing as well as types of brazing have been treated. The types are: Copper brazing, Silver brazing and Aluminum brazing.
