Summary of Properties of Materials (Metals)
Metals are solid materials obtained from a natural product known as iron ore found in some places under the earth.
Properties of metals are density, magnetic property, conductivity, sound test, brittleness, ductility, toughness, malleability, hardness, fusibility, sonorous, and lustrous.
Metals are classified into two namely, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Examples of metals are cast iron, aluminum, high carbon steel, nichrome, mild steel, and stainless steel.
Metals come in different forms and shapes that differ in their appearance and properties. They include round form, tube form, rectangular form, plate form, channels form, strips form and wires.
Ceramics are all products made from baked clay and are mostly mixtures of clay with other materials.
Types of ceramics are refractory ceramics, white-ware ceramics, and structural clay ceramics.
The properties of ceramics are brittleness, high resistance to heat, easily decorated, high compressive load, porosity, high resistance to corrosion, and insulators
