Definition of a Motorist

As the name implies, a motorist is a person who drives a vehicle with at least four tyres as a means of transportation. Motorists are road users who drive cars, buses, trucks and lorries.

Safety Guidelines for Motorists

Safety guidelines for motorists are therefore rules and regulations made to ensure that motorists drive safely and responsibly in order to guarantee the safety of the motorists and other road users.

The following are the safety guidelines for motorists:

1.         Seat Belts: A seat belt helps to prevent the driver and passengers from hitting their heads on the dashboard or passing through the windscreen in the event of a crash. Seat belts hold the driver and passengers tightly onto their seats. For maximum safety, those at the back of a vehicle should also wear their seat belts.

2.         Avoid alcoholic drinks: It is very dangerous to drink before or while driving. It may impair good judgement and cause traffic accidents. Even when the driver is not intoxicated by the alcohol, he may still feel sleepy from its consumption.
