Process of Converting Data into Information
The following are the functions involved in the process of converting data into useful information:
- Aggregation: This involves calculating, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and combining multiple pieces of data. This may be required to determine a person’s account balance or a student’s (grade point average) position in class.
- Sorting: This involves arranging data in some sequence and in different sets to facilitate processing, e.g. class, age, sex, etc.
