MEANING OF INFORMATION
Information is processed data. It is data processed, organized, structured or presented in a given context so as to make it useful. Information is also known as hard copy. Information is an older word that dates back to the 1300s and has Old French and Middle English origin. It has always referred to ‘the act of informing’, usually is respect to education.
Information, in a general sense, is processed, organised and structured data. It provides context for data and enables decision making. For example, a single customer’s sale at a restaurant is data – this becomes information when the business is able to identify the most popular or least popular dish.
