Kinetic theory and evaporation

Evaporation is the escaping of molecules of a liquid from its surface. It takes place at all temperatures. A liquid in an uncovered container has its molecules in constant motion. Heat from the sun increases the kinetic energy of the molecules nearest the surface of the liquid. When they acquire enough energy, they escape from the surface of the liquid.
