CLASSIFICATION OF METALS
There are two classes of metals namely, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
1. Ferrous metals
These are metals that contain iron. As such, they possess good magnetic properties. Examples include carbon steel, pig iron, wrought iron, cast iron, alloy steel, razor blade and nails. All the ferrous metals are made from pig iron, but pig iron itself is never used as an engineering structural material. This is because of its brittleness.
