Calculations Involving Work Done
In calculating work done, we say energy transformed = work done = applied force x distance.
As such, we write this equation as:
W = F x d
Examples
Solution:
Use WD = F x d = 20N x 5m
WD = 100Nm
Note that energy transformed = work done. Energy is measured in Joules (J) so Nm must be the same unit as J.
This means we can say that WD = 100J
