Building materials are the materials used to construct buildings and other structures.
The various types of building materials are: Sand, Gravel, Cement, Wood, Leaves and grasses, Glass, Plastic and Ceramics, Asbestos, Steel, Mortar (Plaster), Burnt bricks and Water. Their uses have been fully discussed in this chapter.
The types of buildings according to construction design include bungalow, duplex, detached building, semi-detached building, storey building, skyscraper and hut.
Concrete can be defined as the mixture of cement, sand, aggregates and water. The types of concrete are reinforced concrete, green concrete, precast concrete, pre-stressed concrete, and terrazzo.
