It has a characteristics microstructure of the constituents. These constituents are the large spring vessels, summer vessels which are the large the large spring thick walls, fibers which are responsible for growth and rigidity of the wood and tracheid. Examples of hardwood are: Agba, Mansonia, Obeche, Teak, Mahogany, Iroko, Ekki (the hardest wood is known and sometimes referred to as iron wood because it cannot be nailed through).
