Summary of Digital Divide

Digital divide refers to the gap between members of a society who have effective access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools like mobile phones, television, computers, internet and those who do not have access to the tools or the skills with which to use them.
The digital divide is often seen to exist between the rich and poor countries; between those in cities and those in rural areas; between males and females; between the rich and the poor individuals; between physically challenged and those without any disability between literates and illiterates, etc.
The causes of digital divide include: low income, low educational attainment, lack of adequate infrastructure, type of government, and inadequate content access.
We also discussed the consequences of digital divide as well as ways of reducing digital divide.
The old economy is the economy system mainly based on subsistence farming; large scale economy based on commodity money.
