Based on purpose, the computer is classified into:
- General purpose computer
- Special purpose computer
- General Purpose Computers: A general-purpose computer is one that, given the appropriate application and required time, should be able to perform computing tasks. Personal computers, including desktops, notebooks, smartphones and tablets, are all examples of general-purpose computers. They are computers designed to perform a range of tasks. They have the ability to store numerous programs.
